Stockamöllan (pronounced STOCK-ah-MULL-an). Few place names sound more distinctly Scanian. Say it out loud: Stockamöllan.

The river here is incredibly calm. The canoe you can rent nearby barely seems to move. This waterway is in absolutely no hurry.

One thing I learned is that if you come here early in the morning to record sounds and walk through the ankle-high grass down to the river, your trainers will be soaking wet before you can say smörgåsbordsombudsman.

Favourite sound: The birdsong at 51:36 minutes into the recording. It sounds exactly like the birds in The Blue Lagoon.

39 dB
