Skåne is often called Sweden’s portal to Europe, and it’s easy to get here by the many various connections. Transfer time is minimal – you can get on a train at Copenhagen airport and be in the midst of the Scanian wilderness in less than two hours. Everything is nearby and easily accessible by train, buses or car.

Traveling on trains and buses in Skåne

Download the app

The Skånetrafiken app is by far the easiest way to travel on buses and trains throughout Skåne. Just download the app from App Store or Google Play. Now buy your ticket via the app. Remember to activate your ticket before getting onboard.

Ticket without the app

You can buy tickets for Skåne, to Denmark and surrounding counties from the customer service centre. There are four customer service centres; at Malmö Central Station, Lund Station, Knutpunkten in Helsingborg and at Kristianstad Station.

You can also buy tickets to SJ and the airport buses between Lund-Sturup and Malmö-Sturup as well as for long distance buses from the customer service centre.

Avoid getting fined

You have to buy a train ticket before the ride and entering the train or you can be fined. If you feel uncertain about which train to take or how to buy a ticket, don’t hesitate to ask the staff at the service desks.

Border controls

Since January 2016 there are border controls at the train stations adjacent to the Öresund Bridge, at the toll station on the bridge and by the ferries in Denmark and in Sweden. There are no controls in the opposite direction from Sweden to Denmark. Be sure to bring a valid ID with photo identification for all family members (passport, valid driver's licence or approved Nordic EU ID card). Read more about border controls here.

Arriving by car or boat

It’s an easy drive from anywhere in Europe and you can take your car on the ferry for the last part to save time and fuel. Ferries depart from several harbours in Poland, Germany and Denmark.

Driving here is easy. Enjoy unhurried roads and undulating countryside. If you don't bring your own car, rent a car on location for the day or for the week at one of the many car rental companies.

Arriving by plane

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is only a thirty-minute train ride away. Copenhagen Airport is Scandinavia’s largest airport and transports over 21 million passengers every year. It can be reached from all bigger cities. Once at Copenhagen Airport, buy a train ticket that takes you over the Öresund bridge to Sweden. Get off at Malmö, Helsingborg, Lund, or whichever city you prefer.
