Notes from the sound guy:
I sort of knew I would stumble upon an old quarry out here. After all, that's what "stenbrott" means in Swedish, even in Skåne. But so close to the sea, looking like this?
Big blocks, broken walls, and scars in the stone, like someone lost their temper with dynamite. It feels as if people and nature had a messy breakup and never got back together.
And then, right next door, Dagshög. A really big burial mound. Apparently, a king named Dag is resting there, killed by pirates. At least, that’s what the information sign at the parking lot told me.
The soundscape is my favourite plot twist. One moment it’s dead-quiet rubble, the next it’s sea air whooshing in and birds chirping like they’re auditioning for Skåne’s Got Talent.
My favourite sound in the recording: A crow coughing into the wind at 12:03. Pure gothic ambience.
