  • _ga (persistent, first party) – This cookie is used by Google Analytics to identify unique visitors / users through a random number as a customer ID. ID is included in each page load time of the website and are used to collect user session and campaign data for statistical reports. The cookie is by default set to expire after 2 years, this can be adjusted by the site owner.
  • _gat (persistent, first party) – This cookie is used by Google Analytics to throttle the rate of access requests (limits the collection of data on high traffic sites). It expires after 10 minutes.
  • pageviews, startTime & trackedQuality (session, first party) – The files generated by our own JavaScript to collect selected events as the visitor performs on the site. The aim is to improve the user experience and relevance to the visitor based on the site's digital goal.
  • nmstat (persistent, first party) – Used by Siteimprove remembering how the browser uses the site, including when readers visited the site last. Siteimprove is a diagnostic tool that helps us to repair broken links and improve SEO and accessibility of the site.

About Google Analytics cookies

The information generated by Google Analytics cookies through your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. This information is used to evaluate visitor statistics. For example, we use reports of visits to the site to improve both content and navigation and structure. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate IP addresses with other data held by Google.

Functionality

  • has_js (session, first party) – This cookie is created by the Drupal content management system, and is used to detect whether the visitor's browser has JavaScript enabled. The main purpose is to maintain basic functionality of the site as interactivity, navigation and event tracking.
