Trolley cycling through the meadows and forests of Skåne is a fun adventure for all ages and a great way to see some of the most beautiful parts of Skåne, working up a sweat and an appetite in same time. In the past, these trolleys were used by the railway staff, but today many of these railways are no longer in use. Instead, the trolleys can now be rented and will take you on a creaking trip through the scenic countryside. Pack a picnic basket with goodies and bring the whole family on a day trip where everyone can take turns pedaling. Most trips take around 3-4 hours.  Below are a few places where you can rent a trolley:  

Broby-Glimminge - 12km roundtrip

Broby-Glimminge - 12km roundtrip

This route takes about 2,5 hours and brings you straight into nature, with elements of forest, rivers, fences and fields. Once in Glimminge you can enjoy your packed picnic basket on the beautiful stone bridge or go to the station. At the station, and by the river you’ll find picnic tables, a toilet and a kiosk with ice cream, cake and beverages.

Romeleåsens Dressincykling - 6km one way

Trolley cycle along the Romeleåsen ridge between the small willages Björnstorp and Veberöd. This railway trail takes about 1,5-2 hours and takes you through the lush forests and open meadows – if you are lucky you might even spot a fallow deer. Choose to pre-order food for the family or bring your own if you’d like!

Sankt Olof - Gyllebosjön - 14km roundtrip

This route goes through settings that have maintained the same since the 40s and 50s. You’ll pass by small farms, beautiful pastures framed by stone fences, grazed by highlandcattles, ordinary cows, horses and deers. This route takes about 2 hours. Combine the trolley trip with a swim in the lake Gyllebosjön and let the wind dry your hair on your way back!

Tomelilla - Fyledalen 18km roundtrip

This track takes you on a very scenic route on an old railway that once used to cross all of Skåne from Simrishamn in the east to Malmö in the West. You cycle from the town Tomelilla to Fyledalen, one of Skåne’s most beautiful nature reserves. Once there, you turn around and you cycle the same way back. At just over half the distance is Banvaktens kiosk you can enjoy ice cream, coffee, waffles and more.

Klippan – Ljungbyhed - 13km

Klippan – Ljungbyhed - 13km

Trolley cycling between Klippan and Ljungbyhed takes about 1,5 hours and passes through scenic oak and beech forests. Along the track, there are plenty of beautiful spots to stop for coffee breaks. These trolleys are adapted for wheelchairs and the surroundings are historic grounds where Danish guerilla (Snapphanarna) once used to hide in the woods.
